KMT®XK-Precipitated Magnesium hydroxide

Magnesium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the formula Mg(OH)2. It has flame retardant, smoke suppression and high filling functions. The largest industrial application of Mg(OH)2 is flame retardants for products such as roofing, isolation materials, plastic articles, cable compound and coatings. The mechanism of flame retardancy is based on the endothermic decomposition of the material into MgO and H2O. This reaction absorbs heat, which delays the ignition of the associated substance. The water dilutes combustible gases and inhibits oxygen from aiding the combustion.

 

KMT®XK-Precipitated magnesium hydroxide(MDH) is manufactured based on a chemical reaction:

 

MgCl2 + 2NH3 ▪ H2O → Mg(OH)2 ↓ + 2NH4Cl

 

 

One of our Factory-Gansu KMT® Material Sci&Tech Co. Ltd., is located near Chaka Salt Lake, which has abundant magnesium salt, kali salt, sodium salt resources. For the production of KMT XK-Precipitated magnesium hydroxide, we extract its main raw material from the Salt Lake to prepare the Magnesium Chloride solution, and after purifying the MgCl2 solution, it will be added into the chemical reactor with ammonium hydroxide and reacting under certain temperature, pressure. Finally, we will get raw precipitated magnesium hydroxide and will do further processing based on the production requirement. KMT® XK-Precipitated MDH is non-toxic, safe to use, and environmentally friendly. 

We supply both surfaced treated and untreated MDH,  in high-performance applications, chemically treated MDH products offer these advantages compared with untreated MDH:

  * Improves physical properties and Enhances flame retardant performance, electrical performance
